[Condition] Used 古書 [Photographer] Seiko Sano / 佐野聖光 [Publisher] ギャラリーゴッコ出版局 [Year] 1976(初版) [Language] Japanese [Size] 250 × 270 mm(約) [Binding] Softcover [ISBN] なし(確認できず) In February 1973, the Ashio Copper Mine closed after approximately 400 years of operation. Photographer Seiko Sano moved from Tokyo to Ashio to document the town and its people during this period. The photographs capture the daily lives of miners, labor union activities, public meetings, and the changing landscape of the town following the mine's closure. While the Ashio Copper Mine played a significant role in Japan's modernization, it also left behind a history of severe environmental pollution, known as the Ashio Copper Mine Pollution Incident. Rather than documenting Ashio as an industrial heritage site, Sano photographed the people who still lived and worked there, recording a community at a moment of profound change. A documentary photobook offering a valuable glimpse into the lives of workers and their families in 1970s Japan.
